Local secret
A levada walk through laurel forest at Rabaçal that ends at a lagoon fed by springs in the rock.
The path follows a levada, one of the narrow water channels cut by hand across the mountains. You walk beside running water under tree heather and laurel until the valley closes into a wall of rock, where thin streams fall into a green pool.
A short detour on the way leads to Risco, a single tall waterfall.
A tipIt is the most popular levada on the island and the path is narrow. Be there before nine.
